Nostalgia on the Bay

The rain has finally arrived-we need it. My husband is at Hatteras and son in Edisto-they are getting hammered (with weather, that is). They're on vacation but I had to stay due to work/animals/other obligations..which include Pottsville, PA-as I recently bought my grandparents house there (somebody had to do it).So every chance I get,I have to go up there and deal with that. As I said (somewhere) the men were miners and both my grandmothers owned bars-my maternal grandmothers bar in Donaldson got sold many years ago. But in the one I now own, icons, articles and posters abound re the Molly Maguires and the Pottsville Maroons-neighbors/relatives say they are kin of MM's and some get checks from the Maroons (for not playing?)-anyway..just finished Kingsolver's Pigs in Heaven..6 pigs vs. 7 sisters.. I recall the hills of Pottsville being called the 7 sisters-very steep, they are..dotted with onion-domed churches, the most incredible courthouse and dungeon behind (where the Mollys were tried) and the Yuengling brewery (and ice cream plant which operated during prohibition). When I took over the bar I found ancient cases of Yeungling & I took them to the Pine Grove dump as I couldn't keep heating the place..sheese, were they worth something on e-bay? Anyway...back to the Rambler/gambler thing..(which was mentioned elsewhere)..the miners made so little money, that they boxed on the side. Both my G'moms bars and every other one hosted boxing/betting. My dad and my mothers brother, Sam, were big winners in their towns & lots of injuries/ailments/later troubles to show. But not before my dad was invited by Conny Mack to join the Lancaster Red Roses (baseball farm team of the Phidelphia Athletics) as a pitcher in '46, I think... then he was bumped up to the A's-on his way home from Philly they got in a car accident-2 killed, 2 survived, he being one-long recovery..but he met my Mom, became a big star in Dauphin County, had 7 kids ( I'm the oldest) and we each became gamblers in our own way..later on that.

Finally, a day "off", meaning catch up with housework, the garden and bills & visit the sites/blogs I love www.spaces.msn.com/oasisinspace which details those while CSPAN hearings play in the background..we live in exciting times. I am grateful for the day-sunny and windy on the Bay-my family is off to Hatteras and Edisto this week and I tried to join them last night but my car said NO..turned around and Ever so grateful for that move as they are having gale warnings there...well, more than warnings-getting sandblasted on the beach. But I was frustrated about it so took a walk on the Bayshore/San Domingo Creek which my daughter-in-law's concern (Enviromental Concern) planted with grasses last spring-it worked, my beaches are "gone"..today it was filled with "intruders"-herons, egrets, deer, terns, turtles..so alive with jubilant wildlife-their turf is so minimal here as development has run wild in the past 20 years AND that beachfront has a huge new sign advertising 16 waterfront lots (1/2 acre) starting at 745,000..give me a break...the critters and meself are grateful for the recession-not wishing ill on anyone, my re-fi is a mess, sold 5 times and I'm now owned by Indymac-who I hear has failed-so who gets my 1500. a month....what stinkin' ever..I'm just grateful for shelter..me and the critters hunkering in. When I was in my fright mode I thought why am I watering this demanding floral explosion garden (should have planted more edibles-we're in a bit of a drought) But the birds, hummingbirds, butterflies, moths, bees, squirrels and rabbits are having a grand time..it's a good thing.
Kaleidescopic explosion-I have a new muse-JM at Raging Universe- how does she(?) do it-for months I could not grok gender until she said "cowgirl"-we have Colorado in common...Oh, how I miss the mountains/long view, and this she provides beyond measure..her latest post, the dice one, sent me off on this....we have 700 billion ways to work....
My old pal, LG of LF wrote another great song "I've got 20 million things to do, 20 million things"...I seem to sing it a lot-not the most pos of tudes, but now I have a new mantra... we have 700 billion ways to work (play/imaginate-as Mad's would say). I sing it to 20M tune.. which reminds me of another pal, Jimmy Hall of Wet Willie-his songs rocked/transformed me old "nuthouse" in Salem, Va..... DGMS

The O-neg thing

My kingdom for a scanner-I have to type this in-the page I was sent has no link to it's source, alas..
here's what it says :
FACTS:
Rh-negatives are RARE. But strangely..a person with type O negative blood is considered to be a universal donor. It means his or her blood can be given to anyone, regardless of blood type without causing a transfusion reaction. The RH Negative factor is considered a "Mutation" of "Unknown Origin", which happened in Europe about 25,000 to 35,000 years ago. Then this group spread heavily into the area of what is now Spain, England, Ireland, etc. O negs have pure blood, no antigens, no rhesus monkey gene. Many said these O - people have these traits:
PREDOMINANCE OF GREEN OR HAZEL EYES THAT CHANGE COLOR.
BLACK OR REDDISH HAIR
LOW PULSE RATE
LOW BLOOD PRESSURE
KEEN SIGHT OR HEARING
ESP
EXTRA RIB OR VERTEBRAE (OR A CAUDA/TAIL)
UFO CONNECTIONS
LOVE OF SPACE AND SCIENCE
A SENSE OF NOT BELONGING TO THE HUMAN RACE
PIERCING EYES
PARA NORMAL OCCURRENCES
PSYCHIC DREAMS
TRUTH SEEKERS
DESIRE FOR HIGHER WISDOM
EMPATHETIC ILLNESSES
DEEP COMPASSION FOR THE FATE OF MANKIND
A SENSE OF A "MISSION" IN LIFE
PHYSIC ABILITIES
UNEXPLAINED SCARS ON BODY
CAPABILITY TO DISRUPT ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES
ALIEN CONTACTS

Myself, my brother and sister (and another brother who is gone) can say yes to all of these except the unexplained scars. My Irish grandfather, by Dad and 2 of his brothers had all this and many tales to tell-they could not wear watches (they'd stop) or walk near the TV or radio (fuzz right out). And they had all the rest. I read on another site "intolerance to alcohol" which may be another definition of alcoholic..let me add that to our fam list-both my grandmothers owned bars, the men were miners in PA mountains. Most everyone (of us) did our best to lower our frequency factor..none liked the physic abilities but the incidents were real. My family was from a small town in central PA consisting mostly of relatives & this stuff was the norm. When we moved closer to Harrisburg and I went to school with kids who did not "believe in spaceships" I thought they were the wierd ones.. Anyway the person who published this is asking for stories/conducting research...but the link is lost to me...kind of ironic..you'd think we could access it physicly..alas...we never have been able to tap in at will (lottery #)..the shit that happens, just happens. I would like to hear from others OR if you find the author of this, please let me know.

Facing Oasis

Sheese. I already have a blog I can't keep up with-have left Zaadz and me Diggers behind-lack of time. Was just trying to post to Raging Universe when all this came up. As I said there, pretty pressed for time. My neglected blog is www.spaces.msn.com/oasisinspace -if I dare expose myself.
